Sail Away {Art Journal}

Sail Away DLP April 4

A real challenge for me, this week’s Documented Life Project specifies watercolor for the technique, and the prompt is “Water under the bridge.”

Although I dabble in watercolor, I do not prefer watercolor in my mixed media art journals. It is absolutely and totally different from acrylic, my medium of choice for art journaling. Since I was trying to follow the suggestions, I painted the background and some book text (to use for the stamped letters) with watercolors, used water soluble pencils a lot, brought in one of my previous watercolor sketch-and-paint projects (the teacup sailboat).

I have decided I don’t have to be thrilled with each week (52 weeks of prompts could get to be burdensome if I apply my usual desire for perfection). That wouldn’t be good for me, right? That’s what I thought. So, there you have it, my rationale for these Documented Life Projects being crazy and messy, not great, but fun!
