In one of my devotional times recently, I came across a paraphrase of Philippians 4:6 that makes a lot of sense to me:
Don’t worry about anything.
Instead, Pray about everything.
Tell God what you need,
And thank Him for all He has done.
One day as I was praying through this, I realized something, and I made this notation in my prayer journal:
So, I AM praying about everything. But I am still worrying about everything. What is wrong with that picture????
HELLO!! I am praying AND worrying, when I should be praying INSTEAD of worrying.
Might this be why I am not always feeling the “peace of God that passes understanding” that is promised in the verse that follows (Phil 4:7):
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
The KEY WORD in the paraphrase of Philippians 4:7: INSTEAD.
Lord, help me to pray INSTEAD of worrying, thanking you for all you have done.
December Watercolor
So far, I have only painted one Christmas-themed watercolor piece. This candy cane cookie is one of my favorites (maybe because my great grandson loves it and complimented me on my work!).
